This is a Sebo genuine part. Part number 665603E
Unplug the vacuum before opening the machine. Do not work on the cord reel while the vacuum is plugged in.
Disconnect the hose from the canister. Remove the wand, floor tool, and any onboard tools so the vacuum is easier to handle.
Open the bag compartment and remove the filter bag. Set the bag cover aside carefully so you do not damage the latch or hinge area.
Carefully remove the soft Airbelt bumper around the canister. Work slowly so you do not tear or stretch it.
Turn the vacuum over and remove the screws holding the upper and lower housing together. Keep the screws organized because some may be different lengths.
Lift the top housing off slowly. Do not yank it open because wiring may still be connected inside.
The cord reel sits inside the rear section of the canister where the power cord enters the machine. The replacement assembly includes the reel, lever, and leaf spring.
Before removing anything, take a clear photo of the wiring and how the cord reel sits in the housing. This makes reassembly much easier.
Carefully disconnect the wires from the old cord reel. Use needle-nose pliers if needed, but pull on the connector, not the wire itself.
Pay attention to the lever and leaf spring orientation. The leaf spring gives tension to the cord rewind lever. If it is installed backward or out of position, the rewind button may feel loose or fail to engage.
Remove the old cord reel assembly from the housing. Check for broken plastic tabs, burnt connectors, or loose wiring.
Place the new SEBO K-series cord reel into the same position as the original. Make sure it sits flat and the cord exits through the correct channel.
Install the rewind lever so it contacts the cord reel release mechanism. The leaf spring should press against the lever to return it after you push the rewind button.
The lever should move freely and spring back on its own.
Reconnect the wires exactly as they were before. Use your photo as a reference.
Before fully reassembling the vacuum, gently pull the cord out and press the rewind lever. The cord should retract smoothly.
Do not plug the vacuum in while the casing is open.
Once the cord reel works correctly, reinstall the top housing and make sure no wires are pinched.
Turn the vacuum over and reinstall all casing screws.
Put the Airbelt bumper back around the canister, making sure it sits evenly in its track.
Put the bag back in place, close the bag compartment, and reconnect the hose.
Plug the vacuum in, turn it on briefly, then turn it off and test the cord rewind again.
If the cord pulls out but will not retract, the issue is usually the reel spring or lever engagement. If the rewind button has no resistance, check the leaf spring position first.
