The mini CO2 regulator fits 16g Threaded CO2 Cartridges and allows you to control the amount of CO2 being injected into the keg / barrel to keep your barrel pressurised.
As you pour a pint, the regulator will only let in as much gas as needed from the CO2 cartridge, meaning you will use a lot less CO2 and therefore fewer cartridges.
You can take off the regulator to use it on another keg and the valves will keep the pressure in there.
Unlike the smaller 8g cartridges where you inject the hole 8g of CO2 in 1 blast and lots comes back out the pressure relief valve, your CO2 is injected as its needed, saving you lots of cartridges.
And now the old Hambleton Bard S30 / BrewGas L30 cylinders are so hard to come by, and if you do, the cost of returning and shipping of the new cartridge makes it very expensive.
This cap and regulator make a very useful and efficient alternative. Using only the CO2 you need, and new cartridges are easy to get hold of.
To use, close the variable pressure dial by turning it fully anticlockwise (towards Decrease), then screw in your gas cartridge. Connect the ball lock with the ball lock post on your keg. turn the pressure dial slowly clockwise (towards Increase) keeping an eye on the pressure gauge.
The pressure gauge measures up to 60psi. If using with a plastic barrel, pressure must not exceed 12psi or damage may occur to the pressure barrel.
