If you plan to use RO/DI (Reverse Osmosis/De-Ionization), distilled or some other form of pure water, it is almost always essential to use some form of remineralizer. The reason for this is because most forms of pure water are lacking in trace elements and minerals that are necessary to support life in the aquarium. By using a form of remineralizer, you add back in these trace elements and minerals needed to have a successful tank. But why use pure water in the first place? Simple, it is full proof. In the past, we have experienced a multitude of problem due to bacteria in city water, fluctuations in water chemistry and hardness of well water. By using pure water, it takes the guess work out of it and you will know that things will remain consistent. Here at Flip Aquatics, we use Salty Shrimp (SS) Bee Shrimp Mineral exclusively.

Salty Shrimp Bee Shrimp Mineral has a few benefits that make it our exclusive remineralizer. The biggest benefit is consistency. With many liquid remineralizers, people find that every bottle will vary slightly. SS Bee Shrimp Mineral is in powder form which makes it exactly the same every time. So once a person figures out his or her dosage, it’ll always be the same unless other factors come into play (evaporation or such). The next benefit is that it is cost effective. Being that it is in powdered form, you are not paying to have it mixed with liquid prior to getting it. Thus, the cost is less and you’ll find your money going a lot farther. The one and only drawback to SS Bee Shrimp Mineral, is just what we talked about: mixing it into water. Often times it will take an hour or two to fully dissolve completely. We usually let our water sit over night before adding it into the aquarium. Although, we have done water changes directly after mixing water without ill effects. If you have the time to wait, it is recommending.

Salty Shrimp Bee Shrimp Mineral GH+ is specifically designed for shrimp that prefer a ph less than 7.0. These shrimp include most Caridina shrimp like crystal reds, Taiwan bees and tangerine tigers. SS Bee Shrimp Mineral GH+ will increase general hardness (GH) and not influence the carbonate hardness (KH). Without KH, it is much easier for you to control the level of Ph in your shrimp tank.
