Ask Me When I Get Home:: 77 Days Circling the World Alone

In 1991, a female English professor representing her local university and newspaper took a solo journey around the world. Billed as "Around the Globe in 80 Days," the travel time and visit to 20 countries required 77 days total. The adventure nominally recreated the journeys of a fictional Phileas Fogg and an actual newspaper reporter, Nellie Bly, a century earlier. The professor, a former newspaper reporter and editor herself, was tasked with creating articles and the accompanying photographs from each country visited. A twist inserted itself when war in the Middle East inserted itself into the journey.
